Random Anime Birthday: Seiji Ogata (Hikaru no Go)
I’ve been thinking about a few things. I figure that although it doesn’t seem like it, I am highly dependent on music to get me through my day. And while I wouldn’t go so far as to call them “theme songs”, songs that are stuck in my head are usually there for a good reason. I mean, I doodle lyrics all over the place because they’re always in my head.
“Hold me
Whatever lies beyond this morning
Is a little later on
Regardless of warnings the future doesn’t scare me at all
Nothing’s like before”
— Hikaru Utada, “Simple and Clean”
“Hajimete no koi hajimete shitta
Konna kanashimi ga aru koto”
— Maaya Sakamoto, “Yubiwa”
“Pray kamisama hoshiiyo sayonara wo iu yuuki wo
Kujikesouna ima wo kowashitaino
Datte nidoto deatta koro ni modorenai kara
Pray kamisama oshiete kono koi wa owarinano?
Kudakechitta omoide mune wo sasu no
Soshite nidoto deatta koro ni modorenaku naru”
— Yuko Sasaki, “Pray”
And I’ve done a little thinking about the whole Gordon Campbell incident (I like to take my time thinking.) I don’t believe resignation is necessarily the answer; what I would like him to do is step aside while he “seeks professional help” and sorts himself out. I firmly do not believe that currently, he is in any state to be our premier. (No pun intended.) While it’s true that the majority of us would not be asked to leave our jobs of we were convicted of drinking and driving, the premier is a different matter altogether. He is a public citizen and he represents the people of our fair province even when he’s on vacation. The fact that he did it on vacation does not excuse him at all. Whether or not he was on his “personal time,” the fact remains that he committed a crime. And here’s where analogies to Ralph Klein break down. Sure, Mr. Klein is an alcoholic, and he got into a scrap at a homeless shelter, but he didn’t break the law. Mr. Campbell did.
In any case, Mr. Campbell will never be able to shrug this off, and his reputation as a politician has been seriously tarnished. He will no longer be able to run for pubic office without one of his opponents using this against him.
