Okay people, since I’m lazy and because I’m always, always, always busy, I’m going to make a list of things, in descending order of priority, that I will be doing over Winter Break. If you want to get together for some of these things, either leave a comment or send an email telling me when you can make it and other such things. I’ll see if I can maybe get something organized.

For everyone’s information, I am not free until 11:01 am on Monday morning.

I think I’m also working on Thursday, which effectively kills my day.

So for this week, that leaves Monday afternoon, Tuesday, Wednesday, and possibly Friday. When does school start up again?

1) Go see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
(And um, I don’t suppose I can beg/borrow/steal Prisoner of Azkaban from one of you? I still haven’t seen it. Oh, and I still don’t have a DVD player either. *cries* So the options are either ripped into computer format or VHS. And I don’t think anyone uses VHS anymore.)

2) Go see Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (if it’s still playing! And it doesn’t really look like it is… oh wait, Denman’s got it. I guess it’s starting to hit the second-run theatres?)

3) Go see RENT (come on, you know you want to! It’s a musical!)

4) Go see the Beauty and the Beast musical
(Sign up for a Student Rush card. Although the tickets may sell out anyway :notsure:)
(And hey, it’s a musical!)

5) Go to the aquarium (I have a free ticket I haven’t used which expires at the end of the year.)

I won’t be finished until sometime Monday or Tuesday, and chances are I won’t be free on Thursday, so that leave Tuesday night, Wednesday, and Friday to see Harry Potter. And I don’t have DVD player either (well, other than on my computer) and yes we stil use VHS (and boy do we have a lot of them). I wouldn’t mind seeing a musical too – I might be going to an opera this weekend, so I sense I trend in expanding my theatrical tastes.

School starts again on Wednesday Jan 4.

And on another note, we should all get together for dinner sometime around New Year; I think that’s about the time most people will be in town.

Sarah Says:

I’m interested in watching RENT and/or Beauty and the Beast. Because musicals are cool. :star: I may be working weekdays though. Plus the endless round of Christmas dinners has begun. But yeah, we should all definitely get together for something … I haven’t seen some of you since the beginning of term! Craziness. 😉

Cat Says:

I also forgot to mention that my manager has me working on NEW YEAR’S EVE. Which sucks, because it’s a) NEW YEAR’S EVE and b) not a stat holiday 🙁

Sami Says:

Trust me Cat, you don’t have it bad at all…

I work Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve (night shift) and New Year’s Day (morning shift at 8:30). My manager Brandon is a bastard. I’m contemplating being “sick” on New Year’s Eve.

Cat Says:

Ouch, Sam, that is pretty awful. And don’t buy the line that you’re working those days because you do a good job. That’s just cruel. *shakes fist at sadistic managers*

My manager did explicitly state that if you work New Year’s Eve, you won’t work Christmas Eve, and vice versa. He doesn’t have me working on Boxing Day, though, which actually makes me more suspicious than anything–it means I’m not exactly driving sales.

Bobby Says:

I can’t believed how lucky I am in that I get to dictate to my boss when I want to work. It makes me appreciate my job so much more.

Sami Says:

The funny thing is, I was supposed to work the Christmas Eve night shift. Not to brag, but I am one of the best hostesses there (probably because I’ve been doing it for over a year). Anyhoo, I got the WORST hostess to switch with me so she’s going to be working the presumably busier night shift that day, and I’ll be working the morning shift. MWA HA HA! Burn! My company is going to suffer that night.

Cat Says:

Sounds like an evil plan to me

Restaurant hours seem hard. I know we close early on Christmas Eve, and that we’re not open Christmas Day (the only exceptions to our 9-9 rule, it seems, unless you count our extended hours in the summer, when we go until ten.)
