Well, well, well. {{link http://majesty.imess.net/ Her Majesty}} was reviewed by {{link http://www.sailorgalleries.com/reviews Devoted to Reviews}}, a WPR I’ve admired for a long time. It got 89%, which, in my opinion, is really not too bad. ^_^ (After all, it’s an A ;P) My little rant here is not about my review (okay, well, it just got me thinking.) It’s actually about reviewers in general. Actually it’s several rants O.o;;

Rant 1: Stupid reviewers.
This one’s been tossing around in my head for a while. Stupid reviewers. Reviewers who deduct marks for spelling “mistakes” which are actually correct. For example: in a character description, the author uses the phrase “hates maths.” The reviewer deducts marks for a spelling error. The list goes on. Canadian and British spellings. Also, stupid reviewers that give bad advice. -_-;;

Rant 2: Bashers.
The reviewers which just bash your page, and are just plain nasty. This kind of “advice” doesn’t help anyone. Constructive criticisms help. Suggestions help. Things like “You need to learn how to use a graphics program so your page doesn’t look so crappy” doesn’t help. Trying your best not to sugarcoat at all can sometimes lead to bashing. While bashing isn’t worse than sugarcoating (it’s just honesty, taken to an extreme) it isn’t much better, in my opinion. In a way, it’s almost like flaming. Almost.

Rant 3: Excessive use of the word “should.”
You SHOULD do this. You SHOULD do that. It’s annoying. You don’t always know more than the webmaster (trust me. Check out some review sites — some of them use free layouts. >.> I mean, if you give advice to people, obviously your website should be of a high quality.) Anyway. “Should” is annoying. It makes people arrogant, honestly.

Webmasters should pay careful attention to what WPRs they submit to. Stupid WPRs, sugarcoating WPRs, I mean, those kinds of reviews are useless. When you submit to a WPR, you’re looking to improve your site, right? I can’t say you’ll get too many quality suggestions from those kinds of WPRs.

Thanks for reading ^_^

Are you sure you weren’t exagerrating? I looked in the reviews and it didn’t say anything about "You need to learn how to use a graphics program so your page doesn’t look so crappy".

I was talking about reviews in general. That was just an example of what I think would be a bad thing to say in a review.
