You know, it’s funny how one year can totally change the way you view things. A year later, you’re in a completely different set of circumstances, you’ve experienced more, learned more, made more mistakes… things have happened and there are oppurtunities you wish you’d taken and those you’re glad you never did… as well, of course, as those you were quite happy to have taken.
I am, of course, referring to the -ahem- “Celebration of Light” down at English Bay.
Last year: “Fireworks. Whatever. Nothing I haven’t seen before.” This year: “Fireworks!!! AHHH!!! I’M GOING TO DIE A HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE DEATH.”
We were busy. As in **busy**. Busy as bees. Busy as those secretaries you see on TV. Busy as IB students. Busy as someone who runs nine sites and updates them all weekly! Busy as… us.
You know how your fingertips get all wrinkly when you’re in the bath too long? That’s what happened to my hands. My hands were stinging from jalapen~o juice. We had to keep getting refills of our various sauces, not to mention pickles and olives. There were customers who kept hemming and hawwing over what veggies they wanted. There were some really stupid ones (okay, one) that kept telling me to pile more onto his sub. There was a couple that ordered FOUR FOOTLONG CHICKEN TERIYAKI SUBS. Do you know how long it takes to heat that stuff up, people? Do you? Four footlongs = eight containers = over two pounds of chicken meat.
On the bright side, I saw Josh (actually, he saw me) and Andrew, who was in my math class.
At least, I think his name’s Andrew….
